In the Dental Assisting Fundamentals portion of the program (6 week session), students will build a strong foundation in the essential skills and knowledge required to succeed as a dental assistant.  This section is designed for both beginners and those looking to refresh their understanding of core dental concepts.

  • Understand basic dental terms and tooth anatomy

  • Identify the different parts of the mouth and their functions

  • Learn dental charting systems and tooth numbering

✅ Infection Control & Sterilization

  • Master best practices for infection prevention

  • Proper techniques for sterilizing instruments and maintaining a clean, safe dental environment

  • Learn how to assist the dentist during a variety of procedures

  • Understand the flow of a dental appointment from patient intake to treatment and dismissal

  • Pass instruments efficiently, manage suction, and ensure patient comfort

✅ Patient Communication & Professionalism

  • Develop effective communication skills for interacting with patients and team members

  • Learn how to provide clear pre- and post-treatment instructions

✅ Basic Administrative Skills

  • Introduction to scheduling, patient records, and dental office software

  • Basics of insurance processing and billing

  • Front desk etiquette and customer service best practices

By the end of this portion, students will feel confident in their ability to support the dental team, ensure patient comfort, and maintain a smooth workflow in both clinical and administrative areas.
